DeVos Performance Hall Celebrates 40th Anniversary this October
Community is Invited to Share Favorite Memories to be Highlighted on Website and Social Media
Grand Rapids – This October marks the 40th anniversary of DeVos Performance Hall and the West Michigan community is invited to join in the celebration. Throughout the month, highlights from the past 40 years will be shared on DeVos Performance Hall’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts as well as on a special 40th Anniversary page on DeVosPerformanceHall.com. Plus, community members can share a favorite memory from the past 40 years on the anniversary webpage for the opportunity to be highlighted on the theater’s website and social media.
DeVos Performance Hall’s performing arts partners – Broadway Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Ballet, the Grand Rapids Symphony and Opera Grand Rapids – are helping to celebrate by providing highlights of their organizations’ past events at DeVos Performance Hall. The arts groups have hosted a number of performances at the theater throughout the past 40 years, including the “Celebration of the Arts” on October 14-15, 1980. This premier event featured performances by the Grand Rapids Ballet, Grand Rapids Symphony and Opera Grand Rapids to dedicate the newly completed performing arts theater.
PBS-WGVU is producing a “WGVU Community Connection” special on the anniversary that is scheduled to air Thursday, October 22 at 6:00 PM. NPR-WGVU’s Shelley Irwin will be airing a special feature on “The Morning Show” on Friday, October 16 at 9:00 AM, as well as weekly interviews and daily fun facts. Irwin will also be highlighting favorite memories from community members and DeVos Performance Hall staff on-air, and anniversary content will be shared on the Facebook pages for WGVU’s Morning Show and Shelley Irwin.
