Group Sales Intern

Group Sales Internship Position for Van Andel Arena and DeVos Performance Hall:

Applicants must be current college students who will earn class credit for completing the internship.  15-20 hours per week required including daily business hours and some evenings and weekends.  Sales, marketing, communications, hospitality & tourism or related majors preferred.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.  Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat & Photoshop preferred but not necessary.  Must be responsible, detail-oriented, tenacious, a self-starter, creative, enthusiastic and must work well with others.  Communication skills are a must.  Must be comfortable making prospecting phone calls to potential customers and must be able to conduct in-depth online research.

This position would begin in September 2010 and end in December 2010, depending on the student's class schedule.  Applicants wishing to intern for a longer period of time are also welcome.
Duties include: assisting with the identification and acquisition of prospecting lists, conducting Internet research to expand the Group Sales database, making sales prospecting phone calls to potential group ticket buyers, assisting with group ticket order fulfillment, updating and maintaining the group sales database, assisting with the development of group sales programs and promotions, designing and distributing group sales promotional materials, conceiving of innovative ways to reach potential group ticket buyers, assisting with day-of-event customer service for group ticket buyers, updating Facebook, MySpace and other social media accounts, attending weekly marketing and staff meetings (based on schedule) and all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
